Vivienne Westwood Papercraft

Vivienne Westwood paper toy created by MRMAZE (aka Roel van Eekelen) for Katachi magazine.

Vivienne Westwood was born Vivienne Isabel Swire in Glossop, Derbyshire, in 1941 and has come to be known as one of the most influential British fashion designers of the twentieth century. While she is latterly credited with introducing "underwear as outerwear," reviving the corset, and inventing the "mini-crini," her earliest and most formative association is with the subcultural fashion and youth movement known as punk. -Metropolitan Meseum of Art

Kirin - 2011 Star Festival Papercraft (Tanabata)

Kirin (Japan) has three new Tanabata (Star Festival) papercrafts for 2011 - bamboo decoration (sasakazari), the lovers Orihime and Takiboshi, and a star guide.

The three papercrafts are split into 6 parts, one release per week.

Tanabata originated more than 2,000 years ago with an old Chinese tale called Kikkoden. Once there was a weaver princess named Orihime and a cow herder prince named Hikoboshi living in space. After they got together, they were playing all the time and forgot about their jobs. The king was angry at them and separated them on opposite sides of the Amanogawa River (Milky Way). The king allowed them to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar. Tanabata literally means the night of the seventh, and it's also known as the star festival. -Shizuko Mizima
