In case some of you have read it and is wondering about the name, Rahwana is from the Indonesian adaptation of the story - Ravana being the one used in the original.

Rahwana is depicted as a scary giant ogre while Ravana is a villainous demon king with 10 heads and 10 pairs of arms.

Another one that got away from me, was buried in my Blogger drafts, had plans to post it three months ago ^^.



The Kuntilanak papercraft is a part of Paper Replika's Indonesian folklore series, this one was actually released before the Pocong Ghost model that we featured.

The Pontianak, Kuntilanak, Matianak or "Boentianak" (as known in Indonesia, sometimes shortened to just kunti) is a type of vampire in Malay folklore, similar to the Langsuir. Pontianak are women who died during childbirth and became undead, seeking revenge and terrorizing villages. - wikipedia

In pop culutre terminology, any type of winged horse is called a pegasus, but this is a misnomer. You see in Greek Mythology, Pegasus is the name of the immortal winged horse that sprang from the blood of the slain Medusa, Pegasus is a Pterripus - the proper term for winged horses.

A part of Indo/Malay folklore, the Pocong is a type of ghost whose manifestation reflects their appearance when they were wrapped in their death shroud. Since the Pocong is covered and tied from head to toe, they remain grounded. Instead of walking or floating, they tend to skip and hop (like on a sack race).

Saint Patrick's Day (aka St. Paddy's Day) is just around the corner - it's an annual feast day celebration for the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick. It is held every March 17 and gives people here in the US another good reason to go drinking ^_^

Green is the theme for this day, so either wear or get something that has green on it. Some of the symbols associated with Saint Patrick's day include the shamrock (3-leafed clover), leprechauns, harps, celtic cross, etc.

And speaking of Leprechauns, macula.tv has one. The name leprechaun comes from the old Irish word "luchorpan" which means "little body." Sal Azad has another amazing papercraft based on Indonesian heritage, the Rego Ponorogo is a traditional dance that has a tiger's head and a wide-winged peacock as the principal features.

Ponorogo is most well known for the reog mask dance, which is said to have been created by one of the kings of Kediri in the 12th century. The performance re-enacts a legendary battle between Pujangga Anom, a minister from the court of Ponorogo, and Singa Barong, guardian spirit of the forest of Lodoyo. The former had aroused the anger of Singa Barong when he stole 150 tigers from the forest, apparently to be offered as a dowry payment for a princess of Kediri, whom the king of Ponorogo wished to marry.
